Although my brakes seem fine when driving, Once I removed the wheels I was quite shocked at the rusty condition of the discs and surrounding areas, particularly the hub.. No doubt due to the car getting very little use for the past 3 years, I have the car booked in to Darren Woods in Stockport (top top guys) early Jan for a full checkover and these will obviously flag up as needing replacing, So I want to do my homework now and establish whether to bite the bullet and upgrade (if necessary) or replace with OEM and possibly go with Pagid RS14 as I don't intend doing track days (yet), I couldn't live with the brakes squeeling, some, or all of the time hence me ruling out the Pagid RS29, Basically Im a brake novice and need some helpful guidance, Car will be used as a daily several days a week and Evo triangle/ European hoons (2 booked for next year already), I would appreciate some advice and also good places to purchase discs/ pads.
Many thanks in advance guys and gals. Last edited by mr sagman; 25-12-2013 at 12:01 AM. |

BMW discs and callipers do look shabby very quickly and the discs always look rusty. But fluid and RS14 upgrade is a good choice with OeM IMHO.
If you go to AP rs29 yes but a bit of overkill if I is all road driving. Track driving will kill any OeM brakes very quickly, ![]()

I'm using PF Carbon Metallic pads on the cesil and they are very nice. No squeaking at all. (original disc/calipers)

I upgraded from standard to the common AP set up front and rear and the new brakes transformed the car. Best upgrade I did. I have run PErformance Friction and RS 29 pads and my novice view is that the PF pads are slightly, slightly better (more bite) but have way too much dust. RS29s are better all round.
