Thanks again Chris, it seems the E60 suffers from a reputation for fragility - I know TG said they had issues when they tested it and a search of the web confirms all is not well. Perhaps that's why they can be had fairly cheaply - a 75,000 mile 05 just went on eBay for sub-£12k and it looked mint.
Its one of those wife/mistress decisions! A good CSL will hold its value and shift if it's too hard to live with (or just plain scares the bejesus out of us), the M5 could hang around a bit longer and drop in value - and its hard to imagine it will reach classic status. Aaaaaaaaaagh! |

As an everyday car I was fine with the CSL.....but my family would not stand it daily.

A year ago, I'd have agreed with you, but having ruptured my L4&5 discs before Christmas, I'm now having a change of mind.
The shitty state of the roads not helping either. I may have to get something comfy for daily use, the new disco 4 sdv6 is pretty impressive as a fishing/ shopping/family wagon. |

Cayman R is good, but already had a Spyder, and tbh i think the Spyder is a better, and more exclusive (looks good) car. A £25k Cayman S would entertain as much as the R for most 997.1 GT3 starting at £50k (OPC + 2year Porsche warranty worth every penny) is a good alternative (good to drive) I like the option of rear seats, so if i hadn't of bought the CSl i was looking at either a 2011 GTR, a 1-series-M, or possibly another C63 £40k is a difficult price bracket - i'd have to take a bit more on the never-never and go GT3 i think... |

A lot more than a 996TT, but the GT2s seem to have stopped dropping in value over the last couple of years |
