Just what I wanted a plausible reason as to why the majority of CSL's have had a "few" owners.

Thanks.

Thanks for your comments, just what I wanted, another valid reason why CSL's appear to have had lots of owners.

Thats two comments now that are slowly convincing me that maybe "few" owners is not always a bad thing as far as CSL go.

Perhaps I should post a wanted ad, with my "requirements", and see what happens ??

I'm the sixth owner of mine at 50k in SG. I thought the same as you but after looking hard and talking to the previous owners I think that some people just want to tick the box & others find them abit raw therefore need a second car & like the guys have already said 25-30k is alot to have in the garage.

+ some people want a trophy car sat in the garage and to Joe Public it just looks like a e46 you can pick up for 8grand so not that impressive if you care what other people think although anyone's opinion that matters will know what it is!

Get on and buy one! Good luck

There's an article in BMWCar magazine this month that seems to suggest many have bought them with a view to daily driving, jumping out of the likes of an M5, but just found them too uncomfortable and sold them on quickly

As an aside, that article also criticised the seats, saying that they were the one thing on the car which potential purchasers would have to change. Personally I find them the best around for a road car, especially on longer trips
I think that is prob the reason for a small numbe rod owners only.

Like most specialist cars the CSL will never be a good daily drive (it was for me for 2 years) and if a car sits in the garage for fun, people tend to swap them out every so often as they have their toys and like to try new toys.

Anybody below 6'2" and 16 st won't find the seats any problem. Even at my size they were comfortable but just not adequate for track use.

I am the 4th or 5th owner of my CSL and have had her for five years or so. I think as has already been said the initial purchaser will likely be the sort of person who keeps it for no more than three years. Those along with many others will find it too raw for everyday use and so will tick the box and move on.

I also think that possibly if it was more expensive it may have had less owners.

Mine was the same and it only had 14k on it. Its the kind of car to change hands regularly. Think a lot were pre registered to as they weren't shifting at launch. Lots of reasons the numbers can be higher.

I think that's right. I think owners buy the cars for different reasons,

The reason why i am selling mine after just 2000 miles is that i don't drive those nice cars throught the winter and that i feel it is too nice just to have them in garage. I had the same problem with the Mustang and the Viper. But always wanted a CSL.

Looking at the MOT's on mine, some owners were collectors and the previous owner drove it daily.

14.05.07 2163 miles

· 31.03.08 3,125 miles

· 17.03.09 11,276 miles

· 15.04.10 16,548 miles

· 19.03.11 30,395 miles

. 10.04.12 40,168 miles

So Merlin you can buy mine , mine is fine

Eduardo.
