So you are then, Matt - how can we thank Rob for being so generous? wash his car? or make him a thankyou card with our own fair hands?

Being a cheapskate would be fitting the CSL with Nankangs, buying 30% used CUP's for 40% of the new price is just being resourceful

Don't worry there's always plenty of used cups. I've got some, just waiting on Duncan who has first dibs on them

Cheers mate, I'm not worrying, only it's a bit urgent now as I need them posted to Simpsons before the end of next week, otherwise I can't pick my CSL up

But I think we all know that Duncan needs some new Cup's - if he doesn't have them let me know!

I've got some too with less than 20 laps and even wear. Just don't ask how old they are!

do you think that the last 70% of the wear will result in as much grip as the first 30% tho - false economy methinks

lower tread is better performance as long as they havent been heat cycled too many times.

race teams shave the Cups down to 3.5mm for best performance

Especially when you factor in postage and the cost to have the tyres mounted by a decent fitting shop...

that is the point I meant tho - how would buyer know how many heat cycles said tyres had gone thru?

more rubber depth = more tread movement = more heat

plus depends how old the tyre is too - pauls old tyre looked scarier than duncs bald tyre!

you will get better outright performance from any new tyre if you shave it.....

I'm just saying tread depth isn't the only factor you should consider when buying secondhand tyres:- age, and usage, have a bearing too.....
