I remember those Posts Mark, scary shit. So yeah, if you can, keep the Warranty for sure.

Has anyone had an engine rebuilt at an independent like simpsons etc?. I can't imagine it's anywhere near a £24k warranty bill. Crank, rod, head, block etc would have to be shot for it to get that much.

i agree

cheapest way would be to buy s/h an M3 engine/loom/keys and put the head and cams on it

guess bill would be £2.5k plus £1k

Assuming all parts were on the engine, would gues at £15k .... but does said new engine also come with warrantee ? BMW may state that with new engine you also need new oil cooler, and pipework etc..... wouldnt know really ...been a while since I had a new engine

We always fit new oil coolers on our engine rebuilds. Pipes are ok. You can be reasonably sure of washing most debris out of them but not coolers.
