Should have been done at 59K
Normally it goes oil service, insp 1, oil service, insp 2, and starts over again, so you can see what the last one was to see if you needed insp 2 right now.

unless you take it just for an oil change half way through the service interval and some muppet resets it ...

Well collected car this morning and can't recommend the garage enough.
Grassicks BMW In Perth is where the work was done.
Mechanic came through and spent a good 30mins talking through everything he done with the car.

He also put my mind at ease ref the mileage / key issue which although I was told yesterday there was nothing to worry about the doubt is always there. Computer hooked up to the car and its showing 99,???kms which works out at 60K along with what he told me about the condition of all the mechanical parts inc the cam etc so he and I are happy happy happy that I have exactly what i thought i did

outnumbered,
Service book reads like this,
  • Running in service - 1248 miles
  • Oil Service - 12369 miles
  • Insp I - 24331 miles
  • Oil Service - 36292 miles
  • Oil Service - 47723 miles
  • Insp II - 60032 miles
All BMW dealerships.

Might even treat it to a clean now

Think it should have the inspection II around the oil service it had at 47K miles.

Right - the Insp2 is about 12K late, the previous owner must have "economised" and done an oil service instead.

Probably not a disaster, but I suppose would stop you having the BMW warranty on it (although at 60K miles I guess that's less likely anyway due to the exorbitant price).

Derek,
They were spot on in every way thanks for the heads up

Karbonkid,
I asked this as well and the mechanic said that it depends on alot of things like how it's been driven over the years or if it's been laid up with the battery disconnected etc.

phatt///M3,
Spoke with the previous owner and garage about this.
Eastern BMW in Edinburgh were the ones who done this and it is what they said was required at that time so i had to take their word for it.

One other thing he said was that all the fluids were spotless

Just Seemed a little high to me as I had Inspec II done a few months back @36k. Short journeys will bring the service trip down quicker too.

The last two services are the wrong way round.most insp 2s are between 45k and 50k,this should have been an insp2 at 47k,and not an oil service.
