I have both and love driving both. My turbo is running 650+hp (60-100mph in 3.1s in 3rd). The acceleration is other worldly compared to the CSL, but everything else about the driving experience in the CSL is better, much better. Because it is so much slower it is easier to exploit on the road too, the 911 feels way too capable even when pushing hard. The CSL feels like you are really trying even when you are not. The CSL has great throttle response and steering feel, the 911 has yoh anticipating the boost before it kicks you hard in the back. If I had to sell one..... I would probably toss a coin. Both great, but in different ways. As it is I plan to keep both at the moment, if I have to sell a fun car (which I will if I want to buy something else) It will probably be the NSX. Very capable, but neither fast nor raw enough for my liking.

These cars get under your skin in a way I've not experienced before and that's after owning some fantastic cars. I keep looking at the likes of gt3 997.1 for around £80k.. At twice the price I know I wouldnt have twice the car. Not as in your face as a gt3 but it's a car for those that know and those that don't know are missing out massively!! Csl is surprisingly quick as well after running with Ian's rs who owned my csl previously there's nothing in it which shocked us both..

I went for a drive yesterday over the Berkshire Downs - first time I've taken the car out for fun in ages. And it was bloody good fun, despite light rain, a bit of bank holiday traffic and the odd tractor. The combination of agility, performance, noise is just spot on, and the car's small enough that you can overtake in places that you'd never get a supercar past...
Must do it again soon on a sunny day ![]()

Interesting to read. I've been on the lookout for a 996T for a while to add to the CSL. Having watched the prices for the last 12 months - I've missed the bottom of the value curve. 996T values are only going one way and they will definitely be an investment you can enjoy.
You have my perfect garage choice!

Gt3s aren't twice the car but they are more challenging to drive well. A standard CSL needs better brakes, a Gt3 comes battle ready.. But gt3 values have climbed massively, now's the time to invest in a mint CSL ![]() |
