Default It's official, highest mileage

Put the CSL in for it's Insp II and it turned 60,000 on the way to the garage.

Now they plugged the key into the machine and yep you guessed it the mileage came back different to what the dash says.

310,000 miles, is this correct sir

At that miles i should be getting the service FOC.

It can do that if it has been clocked and the LMC was not flashed properly
then the units dont match up and add the 3 items that read miles together.

THE Speedo / Light Control Unit and the ews

worryingly this could be true, it happened to me with my 1st M3, it turned out that the previous owner had clocked it very badly, not buy many miles but it was blatantly obvious that it had been done. The key reader was saying something like 600k miles and BMW GB cancelled the warranty immediately (which was handy as it was due to have the bottom end re-call done). Luckily the dealer who had carried out all the checks on the car for me before i bought it, stood by their mistake and took the car off my hands. However, what is more concerning is that i have since found out that they put it back on the forecourt and sold it on, AND this was BMW main dealer.

Was yours an AUC?

No wasnt an AUC car. Was bought at an Independent dealer but i know the history of the car from 2 previous owners.
It was a fairly local car to me before purchase (Edinburgh) and thats where the last service was done prior to the guy selling it to the dealer I bought it from.

Everything seems to tie in ok i.e. stamps in book, MOT's, condition of everything etc etc.

Question is, have i bought and been running a dog for the past 18 months

I think 60K on the clocks is also an unusual mileage for an Insp2 unless it was just a long way overdue for a service... It usually seems to come up around 50K.

What's the service history & mileage shown in the booklet ?

Have just been told i have nothing to worry about

I hope it's an inspection II that was needed or else i have just done myself out of a good chunk of cash

The car was showing just over 1000 miles over due as i have been holding off as we are off to the Ring in 3 weeks time so i wanted it nice and fresh for that hence the 60k on the clock.
Should have been done at 59K
