That is interesting to hear but I assume the claim was not directly related to the missed service ie blown engine and missing an oil service (or more than a two year gap before service)

Probably not directly related, but BMW could have been a lot more unreasonable than they were. They could have wriggled - it was unlikely, but not indisputable, that the failure could be related to the 2 year+ interval and possible oil degradation.

So, in my view, thumbs up to BMW warranty for playing the game nicely in this case.
