EDIT :- Have spoken to BMW warranty and had a quote of £1300 ish p.a. on a car with 70,000 miles on, that's with a £250 excess. Not drastically bad IMO.

This will be down to you how you perceive the risk. I don't want to tempt fate but when the original BMW warranty ran out I did not extend it. Touch wood I have had very little go wrong. Others I believe on here have had their cars rebuilt.

Someone will come along to chat about how good warranties are & the options available. There will be a thread somewhere on this topic.
