What about the points raised in the refurbishment of the CF splitters in this thread:-

http://cslregister.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2170

Karbon Kid "I did the prep work and I dropped them off to the bodyshop who are re-spraying the bumper.

They use a two part Lacquer which has a hardener in and this will give the best results, finishing with oven treatment. Like I did last time.

You cannot obtain a good and durable finish with any type of DIY aerosol, it gets applied too thin and does not last."

Does the laquer not need baking?

I am sure there are other ways of getting the laquer to the right temperature without puting it in the oven but hey ho. My main point is is this a fix if it has not been baked.

Well guys, got the car back yesterday and wanted to update you on the Roof repair.

BMW are quite funny with repairing the roof, as it can cause a loss of strength in the material over time. However Peter at Sytner showed me the email direct from BMW with the methods of repairing which unfortunately I don't have a copy, however I have asked him to email it to me so I will scan it and get it posted. They have a strict approach to repairing them put it that way.

However, when I collected her Peter took me over to the car and showed me what they did and all I can say is WOW, the mark on the roof was gone, he advised me that they layered it with laquer a few times and then polished out also let it bake for a while (Caused a little bubbling on the black strips on each side of the roof, obviously to hot for the material to handle).

Also the car went in for a full bonnet and wings spray and it looks stunning now. Well should be for £1100, all with a BMW Guarentee aswell.

Very Happy, will post some pictures up this weekend if the weather is decent. She's in the garage now to chill out for a bit

Yeh I know its quite expensive Shim, but they have done quite alot of work. I wanted to get it done because of the guarentee you get with all Sytner Bodyshop work so I am covered if anything starts screwing up.

The only problem I have is the black strips have bubbled slightly.
