For that money, I would go IWC or Panerai Bryce. I have a Monaco (the black face / croc strap) but given the choice again, I would prob go for something different.

Try www.watches.co.uk or keep an eye out for watch auctions - see if you can pick up something different / vintage that may be a good investment.

A guy at work does this and picks up some beauties for not much money.

Panerai gets my vote, although I'd have a black strap.

Thanks lads. Yanto has hit my taste bang on. I love the IWC pilots with croc straps, not one for the big bling bracelets and 'busy' faces. Currently own an IWC Aquatimer and love it - theres something special about wearing a high end timepiece which I never understood until purchasing mine.

Will need to have a look at the Panerai in the flesh, need to see that large crown in the flesh. Another brand that has caught my eye is Jaeger LeCoultre - anyone experience with them?

Also, does anyone know if jewelers do sales/discounts after christmas on these higher end watches and alternatively has anyone any experience with buying such an expensive piece online.

Open to more suggestions...

Bryce,

When I bought my Omega the jewellers price matched an online price. Just take a long a print out to prove it. You may get some bolx about the online watch not being official blah blah but it's all rubbish.
