CSL Trip to Eire/Northern Ireland 2016/2017
I fancy heading over to the emerald isle and at the same time seeing a bit of NI.
Anybody got any good routes with a few proper villages/roads/experiences to soak up. Thinking October 2016 or May 2017 (half terms) Anybody fancy coming with me?

Haven’t been on here in a while and here you are talking about my homeland.
Getting of the boat in Belfast follow the coast road to Portrush via Cushendoll keeping an eye out for Game of Thrones film locations, I prefer this road/scenery driving the other direction, but either way stop in Ballintoy Habour, Carrick-A-Rede, Giant’s Causeway and Dunluce. From here a lot of people will go to Donegal, this is a stunning part of the world and well worth the visit but difficult to get a loop without coming back on yourself. My favorite driving road is Draperstown to Derry (Londonderry) via Plumbridge, this will take you thro the heart of the Sperrin Mountain’s, part of its appeal is its the middle of nowhere going from nowhere to nowhere so will take you out of your way but you could visit me! From the big bad north to the dirty south, you can not miss the Wild Atlantic Way, a few weeks ago I drove part of it from Galway to Westport via Spiddal and Clifden and it is breath taking scenery, you could fit this in with the North Antrim Coast stopping in the Fermanagh lakes on your way. There are a few good roads in the Wicklow mountains but I don’t know them well enough to give any tips other than make sure you stop in Johnny Fox’s for a bite to eat. A lot of people will recommend Co. Kerry, some will talk as if it’s the only pritty place in Ireland, hope that doesn’t offend anyone, it is stunning but no better than any of the above and I think some of the best beaches in Ireland can be found in Wexford, but there will be people on here who can advise better on that. |
