Surely you know that Yanto?

Points and fine with reduced plate (I think max 6 points and £60 but could be over the top there) but max £30 fine with no plate (as long as you don't say you took it off and pervert the course of justice in which case you may get jail

I ran a 3/4 plate for a few years on an Impreza. A policeman tutted at it once but that was it.
I also ran a black plate on my GSX-R for a while. I got pulled over and asked to change it to std so did.
In my experience the police tend to dish out instructions rather than penalties.

I ran an Italian size one on the front of my RS500 to allow as much air into the intercoller, both times just got told to put the right size one on, one officer read the rule book out to me on letter size and background, I always carried the original one in the boot.

shortened plates are NOT illegal. There is simply a requirement to have the correct spacing and border around the numbers, see below.
