Default Cog of doom

Morning all,

About 2 weeks ago, my yellow gearbox warning light started coming on. It's an intermittent thing. No rhyme or reason.

Since then its had its Inspection II at which point i asked them to check it out. BMW said the fault diagnosis turned up nothing at all.

It shifts the same whether its on or off. Puzzled.

Any similar experiences? Any suggestions?

Thanks

I had mine intermittently coming on. BMW said it was a faulty SMG relay and changed it under warranty - been fine since.

Check bonnet sensor. Been known to cause some issues.

Thanks. Helpful stuff.

I read somewhere that it could be a 'signal error on the solenoid'. Now sure who or what this is.

Is this the same as the SMG relay? Or the bonnet sensor?

If not, is there amy order i should get BMW to investigate these (given their hourly rate!)

Thanks!

Was that all that they said????? Did they give any reasons or advice as to how to procede? I mean its not the best reccommendation of BMW's diagnostic skills if they say that a warning light has come on for no reason?

Unfortunately it's an honest reflection of most BMW Main Stealers these days

So ( I presume the car is warrantied? )

2 weeks later gearbox grinds to halt - is stealer going to cough up when you've previously pointed out a warning light to them? ( the clue is in the name I find )
