Sorry Paul, but I can't help but think they're a bit of a Novelty and if you've got an iPhone/Blackberry and a Laptop, that's all you need.

Glad you're having fun though.

They don't replace anything, but just just do things better and quicker than both, easy to carry and you won't actually know you need one, until you start using it

I'd love one but IMHO I'm gonna wait until it has input capability

It could be soooooo much more useful then

I'd love to buy one as an Apple MacPro and laptop owner, but as Apple won't support Flash on the iPad (as with the iphone) they will be quickly overtaken by Android driven Tablets which will be technically better and cheaper, much like HTC has on the phones.

Best

Jonathan

Daz has hit the nail on the head. It's a novelty item around the house that is actually very useful for random quick web access, digital photo frame, and music. I haven't missed the lack of flash either.

You are right in that if you expect it to do more then you'll find it slightly wanting.

Streaming films from my pc is cool though, but I need a faster pc now

I justified it to the wife as an accessory to her new kitchen!!

Wife has one, loads of web sites don't work (not talking about flash ones) and I dislike the apple censoring model when they dictate what you can and can't do with it but it does have it's uses. I much prefer a laptop though.

Apple has become a worse Microsoft.
At the same time, they became a fashion item... you are cool if you have an iphone or ipad.

They support their own formats, they don't follow the standards (like USB, multimedia card etc).
I am not buying Apple as I want compatibility with the basic interfaces and protocols of 2010...

I am a Blackberry user and the phone is simply awesome (had multiple HTCs with windows mobile which were also very good).
I will personally buy the HP one with Windows OS and full compatibility with EVERYTHING !

Forgot to add that friend of mine got the Samsung that is running android.
Very very good and by far better than an ipad.

But.... if you have an ipad you are supposed to be cool.

Sounds like solid advice Alex ........ Just a bit sensible !

Apple iPhone I've had for I think 3 years now. Granted some may have caught up and in some instances bettered it in certain departments but on release it was lightyears ahead in look, feel and display ideas. It was obviously built by people who could think laterally rather than engineers. Trouble is all the copiers are still engineers copying and improving. They haven't got the brief to provide something new.

iPad was a go at this but IMHO a bit like the itouch doesn't quite gut the mark. My gut feel is the next one will.
