Simon Glenn is my colleague, they were meant to be using his E36 M3 Evo, but it was damaged in an accident on the way to the shoot, not seen the article, but think they managed to get another at short notice.

CSL gets great reviews in the issue. They love it.

Gotta love Chris Harris's opening few paragraphs in the M3 GTS article. He said BMW had at the launch every M3 they've made..................except the CSL! He thought that most odd and reckoned they were worried about comparisons. He then walked into the underground garage that evening and spotted a CSL tucked in the corner behind the other M3's.

He also mentioned the GTS may look a little bit "parts bin" next to the CSL!

And the last line of the article....................

"On reflection, I can understand why they kept the CSL hidden".

Tells you all you need to know I guess.

A nice article, they (esp Harris) have really been banging the drum for the CSL recently!

Quite agree with the sentiments in the M3 GTS article, spoiler especially looks very parts bin (maybe it is, from the WTCC racer?), you'd have to be a real M3 nutcase to go and spend the projected £110k+ on one

Makes the CSL appear to be a real bargain at almost half that new a few years ago (that certainly wasn't the thinking at the time), and even more of a bargain at half again now.

The M3 25 year articles were great, and they are definitely bigging up the CSL these days, despite being lukewarm on it originally.

The shocker was the relative value of the E36 now... I suppose the standard E46 is heading that low too, given how many more they made than the E36.

I'm really enjoying Harris's writing for Evo - he just about compensates for increasingly frequent appearances of That Fkin Pillock Jonny Smith.

They should have used the wing from the GT2 on the GTS !

Reading the CSL write up in this months EVO and watching the Top Gear episode with the CSL made me call the bank manager this morning to sort the loan out!!!

Luckily, common sense prevailed (more like the wife having a hissyfit in the other ear more like!! haha).

I agree that the price of the E46 M3's have dropped like a stone, a year ago I paid about 11k for a lovely top spec example and now they are the best part of 8.5-9k for the same car!

An E36 Evo in Estoril with low mileage can command the same price, crazy!

I was gonna say similar. Certain E36's can still command good money. Makes the E46 M3 look an even more attractive buy - particularly the post-2003 face lift cars
