Mine's not lasting very long (even when trickle charged), so called BMW.
They want £110 for the OEM (MINI/CSL) battery (55Ah I believe), £130 for an E46 M3 battery (70 Ah) and £145 ish for the 80Ah. Parts chap told me that I really shouldn't use the bigger ones due to CSL having a "thick cardboard floor" ![]() Seems a bit pricey, are they special? What do you guys use? (not spending four figures on a lithium one!) Hoping to move soon to a place with power in the garage, so trickle charging will then be a more regular occurance. ![]() TIA, Dan |

Tell your parts guy he's a cock and if he can tell the difference between an M3 battery compartment floor and a CSL one he's a genius.
![]() Normal CSL battery is fine as long as your alternator is OK and it's trickle charged. Never changed mine in 5 years and it's left in the garage most of the time on a trickle charger.

I think I was around £70-£80 for my CSL one from BMW, with a decent enough discount for your price is prolly about right.
I've only replaced it once, and it was probably the original I took out, I replaced it 2 years ago so....it would have been around 5 years old when I changed it. Should have checked the wee date on it, just for an idea how long the new one might last. Never mind. Get the CSL one, job done. |

CSL/M3 one is made by exide, they do it for a fraction of the cost. Exactly the same 55aH battery just not with BMW written on it.
Simples. Don t get M3 one it weighs a tonne and you don t need it! |

Great, thanks for the replies, had looked at Euro Car Parts, the 065 Exide MINI 1.6 battery is £55 (so half BMW price) before the 15% discount, free delivery as well!
