Hi and a Quick Question
Hi chaps. Just signed up and hope to be searching seriously for a CSL soon
I'm thinking about swapping my E30 M3 Evo II for a CSL as I'm just not using the E30. I've got a 2 year old lad and I'm finding weekend car stuff has taken a bit of a back seat lately and I'd rather have a nice daily driver than weekend toy. I only do about 5K miles a year and don't have a daily commute so I'm thinking a CSL would be the prefect choice - fast, fun but practical enough for some family duties. I thought a low price, high miler would be the way to go so I don't get too precious over it and depreciation would be kept to a minimum. Anyhoo, I've got no concerns about getting a two year old in the back, but if we have another baby I've no doubt it would be a PITA to regularly take it in and out of a rearward facing seat. So my question is, can the CSL seats be swapped for regular M3 or aftermarket Recaro seats easily enough? I'm thinking I could buy a second hand reclining set, fit them for maybe a year until the baby is in a forward facing seat and then punt them on. I did the same thing in my old car (a Mustang) and it was easy enough although I had to keep the occupancy sensor for the passenger side stuffed under the seat as it wouldn't go in to the new seat. Welcome Benny
I'm pretty sure you can swap in a set of standard M3 seats to the CSL as all the fixtures/seat rails are the same i believe. The rear CSL bench can be removed within 5 minutes once you've done it a couple of times. Here's a guide: http://www.cslregister.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4417

I've found from bitter experience that it pays to plan ahead in these situations

By saying 'standard' i meant manual non-electric adjust seats.
