Hey Guys, I have not gone through all of the SMG threads here so I don't know if anything related has been posted but I have noticed that some of you have been experiencing the same summertime issues as us M3 owners on the other side of the pond.
That issue is the SMG light illuminating resulting in the system putting itself into neutral during around town type driving in the summer months. Well, a group of members have pulled together and came up with a rather simple fix vs BMWs resolution of changing the pump. Thought I'd post it here for you guys to benefit from ![]() http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=372262 Edit: 03DinanS2's thread - http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...7#post13355457 Last edited by cntrvrsy; 08-07-2011 at 02:39 AM. |

Hi,
Its good to share information. However, the Euro S54 does not have its ''Cat's' situated within the headers [exhaust manifold] as the NA version does. So the heat from the ''Cats'' does not arise on a Euro spec engine/SMG box car. And although the headers get very hot, airflow is not restricted by the Cats, like you experince. Any of you with aftermarket headers / SMG, have this problem ? I very much doubt it. Many thanks. Regards, The Gorilla. |

Yes, you guys are correct in that I haven't seen this issue discussed much with the Euro cars and I do believe the US version of the exhaust headers plays a huge role in that but I have seen it pop up a couple times. I think a couple members here had their CSL drop into neutral while out on the track. And since BMWs response to the issue is to change the pump, which is not cheap, I thought I'd share this alternative to try out before replacing the pump
