I viewed this car when i was looking for my CSL back in March this year - it was up for sale at £34k then! I drove all the way to Red Line Racing near Leeds from Cornwall to see it and left very unimpressed...
The garage knew i was coming but hadn't even bothered to clean it - inside or out - and there was mud and even a baby seat in the back! (I think the boss had been using it...) There were also several scratches externally and internally on both paintwork and the carbon panels (one 4" scratch is clearly visible on the right flipper in the ad). The rear brake discs were also in poor condition as they were badly scored. The salesman wasn't particularly helpful and it was immediately apparent that i knew a lot more about CSLs than he did! I couldn't even have a test drive as it was hemmed in by numerous other 'boy racer' type cars on the crammed forecourt. All in all it was the poorest condition CSL i saw out of a dozen or so during my search and i couldn't get away fast enough! My advice would be to steer clear as there are many more prisitine, cared for examples out there for similar money - particularly private sale, which is how i came by my CSL in the end. You do need to view a fair spread of CSLs before commiting to a purchase in my opinion. Hope this helps! |

Some good advice from Glendog74 there....always worth asking the question on here as it seems someone always comes up trumps.

Thanks for your reply
Was going to try and view this one when I go to have a look at one in an approved dealer showroom but might give it a miss now. There does not seem to be too many about that that are totally standard Few black ones but I was a SG one |

I would definitely make the effort to view private sale cars, especially if they are still under warranty, as you almost cannot go wrong. Private sellers can also give you a more comprehensive history of their ownership and any niggles they may have had (well, most of them anyway!) The only snag i had was getting rid of my old car in the absence of a trade-in - luckily it didn't take long! |
