Default Broken Rear Spring

Hi All,

My CSL just failed the MOT on rear tyres just below the legal limit (to be expected!) and a broken rear spring

Does anyone know how much genuine replacements are?

I'm gutted because I was planning on swapping to coilovers but not until end of feb so i'm only going to need it for 2 and a half months!

I dont suppose any of you guys have got a used one you'd like to sell me? Maybe someone's got just a single one spare as they've replaced both of theirs?

I would never usually replace something like this with a secondhand component (particularly when they are so prone to failure) but I only need it to last for a couple of months.

Thanks

Craig!

How much do you want for your used rear spring including postage to East Sussex?

Is it in fairly reasonable condition, i.e will it last till next march?

Cheers,
Jon

PM'd... from what I know its practically been taken straight off a CSL before much use, this spring is from Germany (Tom Schirmer place) and he doesnt leave M-Cars standard!

Another option if the spring is the same as a std E46 is the breakers yard ! Im sure others on here will be able to confirm if this is a possibility or not, obviously something with frontal damage would be preferable !.
Other than that, others on here have parts for sale and may be able to help.

Bogger me ! I dont believe it ! I have just hit the send button on an email to Tom Schirmer. See below.

Tom,
Duncan Rogers here, I visited your shop last month ref the parts from the above car, but i could see you had " viel arbeit" at the time and looked very busy. When you have time, could you please tell me what you have in store there as I want to get everything all together in one place now that i own the car. Im hoping you have the following, but i am still in touch with Andy and can check things if needed.
  1. Front Seats.
  2. Interior trim
  3. Original BMW Suspension, I believe you fitted the Intrax one.
  4. Any other parts that may belong to the vehicle but not listed.
Yours sincerely

I wonder

When did you happen to get hold of the spring from Tom Craig?

Haha, mebbie! I ended up using Tom for parts whilst out over there as I broke a coil the day before leaving, that was in July!!

He's got hundreds of springs back there, could here them clanging around as he was sifting through them so I bet Andrew's set is still there too.
