need some advice from my fellow experienced CSL owners.
i need a exhaust but i do not want to risk being over the noise limit at any trackday. for me, not being able to go on track is just the worst thing and i would rather have the standard box if there was even a hint of risk. the supersprint race back box was the prefered option but i am getting mixed reports on the noise issue. please bear in mind i have SS race cats also. just trying to gain a few bhp from a less restrictive back box your advice on this very important matter is very much appreciated ![]()

as weight saving is one of the best plus points i would go with the SS race box.
as for noise chances are Bedford is the only place that you might struggle but most get by without issue. Induction noise tends to be only on track and exhaust worse on static so go for it, otherwise you wont be happy! |

Radders, I'd stick with std to be on the safe side. 997RS were pulled at Donington for driveby noise, but my std CSL was fine on full chat...

From what I've read weight saving is the only real benefit with a back box - will you really notice one or two bhp?

I went from standard to full Milltek including 100 cell cats and Stage 2 re-map. At the time i used the CSL everyday and i found the noise over the top and it also droned horrendously at 2.5-3k revs - i actually found myself down-shifting just to increase the revs to make the drone disappear! Fuel economy suffered too if your bothered about that!
![]() Shortly after, i had the 100 cell cat swapped back out for OEM but kept the Miltek on as well as having a Stage 1 ECU reversion. The noise levels now are a lot more liveable with day-to-day and the drone is lessened. I have also had no issues getting on track at Castle Combe, which is supposedly one of the stricter tracks to get on when it comes to passing noise regs... Like someone said, Bedford is one place that can be arsey but most others should be fine with Miltek and probably SS too. However... My CSL habits have now changed somewhat and i mainly use it for fun and track days. Therefore i am considering getting a SS system as i want a bit more noise again! ![]() With an aftermarket system, weight saving is certainly a reality but power gains are minimal without ECU remap and rolling road. Even when i had my Stage 2 with 100 cell cat it only had 22bhp more than standard for £2000 outlay! Initial acceleration didn't seem any better but mid-range pull was very noticeable and made the car feel quicker as you go through the gears. IMHO, if you're worried about noise i would keep it standard and spend the money on a BBK and suspension mods - in that order. Hope this helps! ![]()
