Default What do you think?

Hi,

Please can you give me your opinion

I've been to look at a CSL and the overall condition is very good.

However, I've found some evidence that the car has bee resprayed around the front near side wing, bonnet edge , and front near side door.
It doesn't look like any panels have been removed and replaced.

It's not been done to the best standard unfortunately.
Ultimately this can be rectified.

My questions are:

1. Would it put you off knowing it has had paint and not knowing what extent it was damaged?

2. Will it effect the value knowing the car has respray/repair work done and the car's paint is not 100% original?

Thanks

Most CSLs now have had the front end resprayed,no it wouldn't put me off,if it's not a very good standard, just get it done again

Mine has had a respray at the front end by its previous owner and is on original panels as far as I know. It didn't put me off in any way. It's not a concours car, its a used example that's cared for.

Nothing wrong with a bit of a front end respray on a 12 year old car, to get rid of some road rash.

If it's not a concours/show car, then I can't see it effecting its value, if you have the poor workmanship rectified.

Still wouldn't put me off if it's a good car

Unless you're looking for a concourse garage queen that you're not planning to ever use I wouldn't waste your time worrying about paint work too much as long as it's not rusting trough. No matter how good or bad the re-spray is it'll be chipped again in less then 6 months of regular road use as modern water based paints just aren't as tough as the "Old school" 2 pack of yesteryears.
If you're worried about hidden crash damage get a full HPI check and/or an RAC / AA full vehicle inspection.

Better a rough diamond then a shiny turd IMHO

Default Paint

The paintwork on the nose is always in need of a refresh every 12-18 months if driven.

There can only be a handful of original paint finish csl's left,

despite a great deal of adverts claiming otherwise!!

As brett has said, if you're not happy with the finish get the paint re-done.
