Track Insurance
So with all this talk of upcoming track days (and me getting my finger out) its got me wondering about insurance.
Who insures their car for track days? If not, why not? Whats the cost? Does age / track / NCBs make any difference? Any other input welcome. Cheers |

didnt insure for first 2+ years on track but managed this year to get it included on my road insurance (swapped from NU to Herts) all uk track days - not european) for about £200 above last years insurance quote, and i also added protection for a few reasons this year
reason i did it was that in 2-3 years on track i have had no bangs and thought that firstly no insurance was holding back my driving improvement (subconsiously less brave) and secondly that my time was coming and i had used up some of my lives i would say dont bother if you are a sensible driver until you think you need it as chances are you wont claim unless you have a big one due to NCD etc most people dont crash on track anyway, they crash on the way home or the next day |

Hi Bryce,
i sometimes take track insurance out with morris http://www.morispayment.co.uk/trackday.asp?prefix=ME its about £150 pounds for values up to £30k and only £1800 excess which i found to be the best in the limited search . Seen your thread on your suspension interested to hear your views. Hope to see you a knockhill on the 7th Feb cheers Derek |

I don't bother, too tight is the sole reason for it.
Would be interested it getting it included into my normal road insurance, even for £200 extra for the year, now that my Insurance is less than £500 for year, FC. |

I have had Moris insurance when i do a track day. When i first used them, track day experience was taken into account and you also got a 5% discount each time you returned for custom.
Now they have a fully automated quote website and i have found that my premiums have gone up considerably - almost by double in fact! I find that the only factor that has a direct link to pricing is when you 'fiddle' around with the valuation of the car you are planning to insure. I rang up to moan about this to Justin Everitt and all he would say was that they would try and factor some discounting into the automated quotes later this year... I'm itching for my everyday Admiral insurance to run out so that i can get a new policy with trackday cover included in the price as i have spent £800 in seperate trackday insurance in the last 6 months! |

There is case law of insurers not paying out there and the ombudsman supporting the insurer.
