Default Which Speed Camera Detector?

After getting caught for speeding i think it is time to invest in some protection against those buggers that hide behind trees etc trying to catch you speeding.

So what can you guys recommend as i haven't got a clue when it comes to speed camera hand held gun detection.

My car had a laser jammer fitted when I bought it - I removed it as they are basically seriously illegal (unless you can show you have the garage doors to match!).

Now I just use a satnav (Tomtom) with the PocketGPSWorld speed camera database. It has all the common mobile locations & all the fixed cameras. Very useful when out of your home area. Costs about 10-20 quid a year to subscribe.

How can people tell you have a laser jammer? I assume when they can't measure your speed?

Surely by that time you'd be gone?

It causes the speed gun to return some sort of error code, which can be enough to make them realise you're jamming them. I think you'd have to be pretty unlucky to get the followup, but if caught they can do you for perverting the course of justice, which has way higher penalties than speeding (e.g., a criminal record, and possibly prison). There's at least one documented case where they followed up and the guy was jailed.

Here's some lesser penalties, but still worse than a few points:

Too risky for me anyway.

Not good! I'd do it if I had garage doors to match though, not a shadow of a doubt!

i had a laser jammer that was very effective,LC400??(its been a long day!) my mate took it off... but i am thinking of replacing it, Ive seen a few more vans about recently
I also have a bell 96r or something, it tells me if speed cameras are switched on which can be fun
