Default A few newbie questions

Hi everyone, as a new CSL owner I have a couple of questions I thought I would lump together in one post:

1. I see some cars have a plaque on the centre console, was this optional? Can you order one now at all?

2. Does anyone know the specs for the little screws that hold the seat lifting plastic handle on, as seems to be the norm mine are stripped and I would like to replace them. Links possibly?

3. What tyres are people using. The previous owner was not using the CSL wheels and they still have the original 2003 Cup tyres. I want to put them back on and am considering going to Pilot Super Sports which seem to be good. Is that what most people are using?

1. Depends if your chassis number has been allocated one. Check with BMW. FOC but expensive to buy, if you can find one, or buy a copy.
2. Sorry no idea
3. Get some tyre softener and put the cups on. I will get shot down for that but they will be fine with the right liquid applied

Welcome and congrats on a great buy.

I wouldn't know about the first two but when it comes to tyres. I run the cups with my 18" track set and run MSS for my CSL's for the road. Both for safety and longevity of the track set I don't run the cups on the street.

BTW, I am no expert but 12 years old CUP's are NOT a good idea, I hope you meant the wheels

Yes the tyres are original on the CSL rims (it is currently on E92 18"s) and a bit low on tread anyway so that is why I want to put new tyres on the CSL rims and get them back on there. Selling off the E92 mags might offset some cost, or I may keep them as track wheels since they will be a bit cheaper being 18s.

Plaque: All UK CSL's should have been fitted with a plaque, however some weren't. The plaques were left in the glove box for the new owner to fit.
These plaques were provided by BMW UK and are not official BMW parts, eg. no part number available, therefore they don't exist.

Screws: don't kow!

Tyres: 'Cup' for fine weather/track use MPSS for everyday use.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for the generous offer, I am based in NZ though and that's where my lovely NZ new car is (hence no plaque I see). I do have a relative in the UK who may be able to forward them on though, I'll PM you.

My plaque was in the handbook pouch when I got the car from Rob, it wasn't attached. It is now. I would check there just in case before ordering a new one.
