Default Nurburgring driving for the first time in CSL

Hey,

This weekend was my first time at the Nurburgring with my CSL... I did already 19 laps over there ( with a civic Eg6 and a STI 9 ).

First lap was saturday right after the VLN race ( we drove on the VLN track configuration ) for my first lap, I used the M-track mode for more safety and also because ( I guess ) it was designed for that kind of track... But it was horrible ! worst than on an usual track ! For my second lap, I decided to turn off all traction control and it was much better and smoothy... But I feel very stressful and tense, the goal isn't to drive fast or register a good time, But a the end of the lap, impossible to go for a other one because the track closed after an accident so FINISH for saturday...

Sunday : I start to warm up the CSL by driving to Adenau then I ve plug the Performance Box and the Go pro and I went on the Nordschleife... Without traction control.

first lap: So stressful, it's really different to drive a Civic of 900kg and jump in a CSL of 1400 kg... I feel than I slow but I don't know exactly because for the fist lap, my performance box was setting the start/finish line. ( BTG mode )

second lap: Ok go ahead, I try to follow an Audi TTrs and clio Sport but I loosed them after bergwerk... Strange !!! after the lap my perf box announced the time... GOD DAMN IT !!!! 15 sec slower than my Eg6 with 184 Hp

I know than it's normal than I feel better in my civic because I drive Honda since 7 years but I feel confuse because I'm was expecting a better time...

Anyway I tried an other lap but it was really better and I started to feel distracted so I decided to stop for today and look other people how they do...

now it's time to practice and get a better feeling with the FR driving...

I have a little question for all CSl driver on the Nordschleife... How do you feel with the M-track mode ?

I know than the problem is not the car but the driver.. but I feel a big handicap from it and I wonder if it's because I using a OEM suspension setup and the car take too much rolling so I loose some grip from the inside wheel, turning on the M-track mode... OR maybe my differential is a little tired and don't sent enough torque to my outside wheel and again turn on the M-track...

Thank you for your answers

I drove the ring btg with dsc fully on, 8.10. I had done approx 18 laps.
Caress the thing don't rape it. The traction kicked in twice, that's it. If its impeding you that much there is something wrong with either the car, you or both.

What tyres?

Chris, just be careful with the R888 as they do go off pretty quickly which will for certain make the Mtrack or dSC kick in earlier. I'm not sure about the weight of your car but it may be a contributory factor if you are doing lots of miles.

My m8 has the 888s on his CSL sounds like the diff is fooked but they do work well but not for me too noisy.

Souds like you need more driving in the CSL i turn traction fully off at any track as it slows the car out the corners too much

did tankslapper and glendog not have problems with dsc/m track cutting in too much when running different tyre sizes to standard? i'm sure they had to turn dsc off as it kept interfering because of the difference on rolling circumference?

from memory they were on similar sizes to christophe, but were running cups

found the thread

http://www.cslregister.com/forum/sho...?t=6400&page=5

265/35/18 fronts and 285/30/18 rears

not sure if the same thing?

in a reasonable amount of laps at the ring i've only found traction control upsetting the car or cutting in too much in a couple of places, especially coming out of bergwerk, heading up the hill.

never really had a problem with it, or the talent to turn it off

Yes Why not It could be also a solution .... But for the circumference I tried to be as close as possible of the oem circumference...
