I have developed a problem with my car, wanted to pick your brains before I splash out.
DSC and yellow brake warning lamp on. Fault code reads "brake pressure sensor 2 fault". I've changed the sensors on the master cylinder but fault won't clear. Wiring looks good. New control unit required? Anyone else had this?? |

Should just be a sensor fault - there are two sensors on the master cyclinder, if memory serves the one closer to the firewall is no.1
Usually when one goes both will go. If you do the read out on the GT1 it will show psi pressure reading - if it is outside the range (basically showing pressure when there's no braking applied) you will get a fault. Try reading both sensors and see which one is playing up - you may have changed the wrong one. |

I changed both, as I like to be thorough, but the fault wouldn't clear with my diagnostic machine. This morning, however, I just started the car and it's all gone away. I don't know if the 42 degree heat at Spa had anything to do with it. It came on after a dozen or so laps. My bottom lip did wobble a bit when I realised I would have to drive the car with no electronic assistance, but as it turned out I was quicker with it all off. Had it been wet it might have been a different story...
So now I am in a dilemma... I'll give the car a run about for a few days and see if it behaves itself. I've seen problems with VW passat abs modules and heat. If you jam a screwdriver between the plastic electronics case and the metal valve body it puts the warning light out. I think it's to do with crummy solder joints on the board. Ho hum. |
