Default Carbon Roof repair

Hi Guys,

Washed the motor this weekend and noticed I have a chip in the laquer, no damage to the carbon luckily, but its gone white around the edges of the chip.

Does anyone know or recommend someone to repair this kind of issue? I asked Sytner when I went down this weekend and they said some laquer can be placed over it. But I don't want it looking sh|ty.

Cheers
Thomas

Pinch some clear nail varnish off your Mrs or boyfriend, just until you get it sorted, dont let water get in it.

I have the same issue.

I picked up a couple of chips on a Silverstone track day late last year and haven't bothered my arse to sort it yet. I simply placed some black electrical tape over them to stop water ingress - i hope it isn't worse when i peel it off!

Here's the only link i could find on here but it doesn't offer much help:

You just have to get a BMW paint kit and use the lacquer bottle.
A single drop will do the trick for you.
I had the same issue 1.5 year ago, I put a drop of lacquer and no problem with the carbon roof.
Also, it's quite difficult to spot as it is transparent.

I will get a photo from my 'fix' tomorrow.
I remember you have a polishing machine -> if you let the lacquer dry properly, you could polish the roof and make the 'fix' completely transparent.

Cool - i just wish the air temperatures would rise quicker to aid the curing in my cold garage!

Another here:

Any good bodyshop will be able to sort it if dont fancy tackling it yourself. Sounds like you have a little water laying in there. They'll be able to rub it back, re-lacquer and polish it all back to its original state.
