Default Had a demo in a GTR today

Always looking on PH, AT etc etc as I'm sure most do, I dropped in at Nissan to see if I could cadge a run in a GTR as this is one of the cars I thought I would like to have at some point.

Not for me I'm afraid.

Super fast yes. Exiting? Not really. There was no noise, no drama and certainly no challenge from where i was sitting (passenger).

Dont get me wrong, its certainly an impressive bit of kit. And I know you dont buy them for the build quality inside - but when parting with 45k I dont want switches that look like there out of a 1992k plated Nissan Sunny 1.3 GS.

I came from a 996tt which was a devastating road tool, effortless speed, but no noise, no drama & very easy (almost too easy) to drive fast but a bit dull if I'm being honest. A bit like the GTR but without the cheapo switch gear and anorak Gforce displays.

It was great to be taken for a blast in, and the lad who took me the run was great to deal with, but I enjoyed my 50mile run home more in my 7year old BM

Yeah, I can't agree more !

There are some blokes with 996tt and GTRs that are supposed to be very fast on track, but the cars are too easy to drive.
Even a grandma could drive them fast.

RWD all the way

First thing they need is a y pipe or exhaust
That transforms the whole experience.

I can understand peoples view that they are easy to drive, yes, but when pushing on they are very rewarding, and the more you drive them, the more you understand what they are all about.

They are far faster than the csl around a track, but the csl is a far better track car, if you get my point.

After a while the GTR makes sense and is an outstanding gt car.

It will never give the same feeling as the csl as they are chalk and cheese

Hi Shane,

yes, I agree with you on the Y-pipe. Nobels had one with a Y-Pipe and it did sound alot better. And that was just at idle!

I'm not knocking them as a car, its some bit of kit. I just dont want another car that has to be taken to 100+ to get a buzz from.

I dont want to end up in Jail!

That was the problem with the 996tt

The CSL give so much more at much less pace, yet can still keep going if needed to ridiculous speeds.

i had GTR with roughly 600HP, race suspension, carbon fiber bonnet, R888 Toyo tires etc... unbelieavable fast, real extrem... sold and back to M3 now in CSL version..

have to test GT3 RS as everyone says it's great. I just still fell that the engine in back is all wrong and i know only one man (Mr. Rohrl) who can drive it once the back goes over

Your looking at this the wrong way. The GTR is a absolutely fantastic car. And with the right exhaust it sounds like a jet taking off. It was built to be usable everyday and its quite simple to get in and drive to work and then thrash around the track on the weekend. The CSL which is my all time favourite car is a track day and no way can be driven everyday. And it isn't very hard to get the GTR to go sideways like a RWD car
