Default MOT

My CSL passed its MOT test yesterday with no probs at all. When he came to check the brakes,we went out in the car and did it manually using a little box he put in the footwell. Now having had 3 M3s i knew he would do this as the rollers fook the LSD up.Most of you probably know this, but for those who dont keep your eye on them,i always stay with the car while its being tested if being done local and not a Main dealer[Who should know better]

Thanks but why do rollers f*ck the LSD? My car has always been tested on the rollers. There is no warning notice in the owners manual.

Im not sure of the reason, something to do with the wheels not spinning individually, some 4x4s cant be done on it either,a warning did come up when he put my reg number in before he started the MOT,and the same last year at another garage.Im sure Lawsy or some one in the know will be along to tell us the ins and outs.

It's to do with how much the diff locks up, there is a possibility it can jump/snatch the car out the rollers, also its hard/impossible to test the rear brakes independantly due the diff locking.

If they run both together there should be no issue, but better safe than sorry and guidelines state LSD not to be tested on rollers, well it used to, and cant see a reason why it should change.

So back to old fashioned brake testing.
