Just wondering what the ideal oil level reading is?

I wouldn't bother topping it up on 0.8 and you don't want it to go over 1.1.There is only the one oil to use really Castrol Edge 10w 60 don't use Edge sport.

Mine is at 1.1 on the dash after its oil service and just on the max on the hard to get too dip stick

The mechanic got it spot on the max but like other said its better in the .5 to .9 on the dash unless you check the dip stick but you have to take out half the airbox to get to it i posted a video how to do it

As long as you have driven it far enough. Too many short journeys gives you ----- when you try to take a reading.
