Default wheel refurb question

After entrusting a tire change to a couple of monkey's at silverstone at the weekend I need to have the wheels re-done. brill
I know the wheels are not magnesium as some have mentioned, but is a CSL wheel refurb any different to a normal refurb.
The normal process at my local wheel fixers is strip them in a tub with a corrosive chemical and re-paint.
Does anyone know if the metal is going to be affected during the process?
