Hi Fellas,
Had a quick look about but couldn't find anything in particular. Could you let me know your warm up procedures? What you think is best to do? I find the car is almost revving itself when it's first started in the mornings. With all my previous cars I've let them idle for almost 1 minute then drive off, keeping revs below 2-2.5k until the engine oil is nice and warm. Would the same system apply to the CSL? Thanks Paul

The lights on the CSL dashboard iirc are different to the normal M3
CSL lights follow oil temp M3 lights follow water temp I used to jump in mine and drive off but not go past the shift lights until they have gone out. I loved the jerky/raspy/popping of the cold engine ![]()

I just leave the sport off and keep it in auto but drive off straight away and wait until all the lights have gone off before giving it any.

I start mine up then reverse it off the drive, by the time i turn it round its about 1 minute, then drive no more than 3k revs until oil is up to 80c.
Dont leave a car to idle too long esp on cold starts, not good for an engine, causes borewash. |

Yes, drive away as soon as possible once started and just make sure the oil temps are up nicely before too much right foot. I stick to 2,500rpm until warmed.

Thanks everyone. Pretty much what I do. I did used to let it idle on the 335i until it dropped the revs (there was a noticable drop after around 40 seconds) then do the same 2.5k until oil temps ready procedure.
In this case I'll just drive off and keep it low until 80 degrees.
