Default Back fire and miss fire

The CSL was back fireing when cold and missing when i went to give it the beans.

Took it to bmw today, turns out to be the flap on the airbox,
pontomiter fault. It gave the tec date time and air temp inside and out,
cool machine they have reset the fault codes and said if it does it again
i shall need a new Pontomiter , and then if still the same i need the flap motor.

Pontomiter £47 + vat

Flap Motor £80 + vat

PART 3 AND 4 OF THE PIC

We shall see how it goes
I have cleaned the conectors for the 2 things to see if this helps

warranty is a waste of money if you know your car.

What's a pontomiter?

Can't these just be removed to run without the flap?

Yes it will run without the flap but why would they have fitted 1 if it did not need it

Very True!! I have heard of this flap giving problems before! What are the tell tale signs??? apart from the missfire n splutter?? I thought myself the Sport Button opened the flap to make the car more responsive

wouldn't want to loose it as I like the non sport response for in traffic, but I know some owners have discarded it and was wondering what the effect was?
