Is it definately correct that the engine in the CSL is majorly different to that of a standard M3??
Other than the obvious, cams , intake mapping etc, is the actual engine itself built any differently?
What i am getting at is is, ythe csl has to have inspection1 / inspection 2 as part of the routine service schedule, each of which can cost anywhere between £700=£1000 a pop, when i queried why the standard M3 didnt require this level of cost in a service i was told "because its a race engine"

and the valve clearances need checking , re shimming etc.
So have BMW built it so differently from a normal M3, a mate had an E46 M3, did over 20,000 miles in it, the most a service ever cost him was £400.
Is it really required or is it a cost born of the assumption that anyone with the money to own a CSL, would not question a different service price plan.
