Absolutely no comparison between the E36 & E46 keys. Our E46 keys have a micro chip inside that stores lots of info like chassis number, service history info, mileage, etc + there's a rechargable battery inside that gets charged via ignition slot, everytime you use the key, so if you have both keyes it's important to alrenate the use of both keys, as failier to do so can result in one of the keys going completely flat, loosing it's memory
