I have never suffered brake fade but the whole wheel area gets hot and sometimes the wheel bolts are hot to handle.....

No - I have the same symptoms on track which I believe is quite normal. As said before, unless you are actually getting fade or other brake loss issues, then cooling ducts may well be more of a hindrance with airflow disruption than help IMHO.
