Just go to Bedford on any trackday and hire one of the instructors there. Bedford has loads of run-off and only a few places where you are likely to hit a barrier (but you would have to be properly trying to do that

).
It's easily the best place for a newbie

. Be warned, it is highly addictive.
Make sure you have decent pads and fluid, as the standard road stuff will give you a fright when it overheats and the peddle goes to the floor
