I guess also the big problem everyone is worried about is losing providence, the more standard M3 bits you add the worse it gets. You may not ever notice the difference, but I suppose it's still losing that little bit of specialness each time you don't put a genuine CSL bit back on.

I don't think Billy's too happy about 18 months in a hire car though...
Another question is whether you could even get BMW to fit a non-CSL camshaft under warranty. I think many dealers would just say "can't get the relevant CSL part, so can't do it". They'd be too worried about the standard M3 part being subtly different and trashing the engine at their expense...
