well, I like the part where they introduced the original CSL as the daddy of the M-Division. Trumps the M1 and everything else.

In early 72, BMW's number two Bob Lutz poached Jochen Neerpasch from Ford and tasked him with setting up a new competition arm of the firm, which had withdrawn from motor sport at the end of 1970. Lutz recognized the engineering and marketing benefits that racing would bring.........They managed it, delivering the European Touring Car Championship in 73 - a win that Neerpasch credits with forming the basis for the Motorsport Group. Having gained acceptance from the parent company, it could develop in directions that would lead to the M1 and BMW's existing road cars."
