Claims against the relevant councils are now becoming commonplace, people are fed up having to pay out for tyres.
The quickest way to get them filled is to claim, not just for the tyre but for the wheel which in most cases will sustain a hairline fracture, and of course tracking.

However do remember that your compensation for loss and damage, has to come out of the same revenue budget that road maintenance comes out of. More claims = more potholes 'Catch 22'.
