Mirror knocked off

Bad Xmas present :banghead:

Found that someone has knocked off the drivers side mirror - all the connections are still intact.

Cannot seem to find a way of disconnecting the mirror from the car ( it is hanging by the connectors). Any sugggestions?

It seems the inside of the mirror bracket is broken - available as a separate part?

Merry Xmas and New Year! Sorry to hear about your incident. Here is what I found on realoem for you:

Hope this helps.

Was driving my CSL today and somehow a pair of frigging scissors got caught on my passenger rear wheel and punctured my rear tire. Hopefully repairable and I don't need a new tire. :banghead:

I havent taken a mirror off the csl but on an M3 you take the inner card out, the mirror is held on with 3 bolts and the power is a clip in connection.
Not a big job to change

If I remember correctly you have to buy a new mirror as BMW do not sell the internals of the mirror separately apart from the actuator / motor and glass etc, I don't think they sell replacement brackets on their own.

I had exactly the same problem years ago when some dispatch rider managed to knock off my drivers mirror as well as clouting his panniers down the side of my car (my old E46 M3) when I was stuck in traffic, then kindly rode off.

I had to buy a complete mirror unit and get it painted.

You are right but to mitigate my costs, my options are:

manage to get that bracket form an otherwise unsaleable mirror or

buy a used mirror and take out the bit I want to fit my already painted undamaged mirror or

buy a new mirror 46179551 part number I think & then take the bit out or just have it painted and refit.
