Cog Light Flashing.
When my car gets hot and has been having lots of gear changes it eventually can result in the cog light flashing amber, otherwise no noticeable side effects.
Anybody got any ideas what might be wrong. I know if I get it looked at under warranty it's likely it can't be replicated, as mechanics aren't likely to get it as hot as me ;), try as they might. Soon as I back off it will stop flashing. Occasionally it might stay on but goes away when engine restarted, normally it will stop flashing and go off when you stop driving hard. Weather was hot on both occasions. |

I would change the fluid and re-bleed the smg system. |
When was the last time you had your smg fluid replaced mate...the Hydraulic one not the gearbox oil?
It degrades over time like brake fluid as it gets hot it loses its hydraulic properties and breaks down like brake fluid. Most likely this is happening to you on track as the fluid is being used for very frequent rapid gear changes... Also worth plugging in and checking codes...the ecu will have stored them.... |

My light has been coming on recently, normal driving, it goes off. Elms have had a look and couldn't see anything 1st time round, it's back with them so I'm hoping Gareth can find out why, now it's happened again (several times).
I can understand the heat but can't understand why it doesn't register the cause of the fault |
