Going to view a CSL - Checklist...

Right guys going to see a CSL tomorrow or Sat failing that. I'll tell you what I've checked so far, but would appreciate it if you can think of anything else I can ask/check.

Checks already done:

HPI - all good
BMW factory spec - all good
BMW Service history - got garages and dates but don't know what was done each time it went in yet

The 'Shimmy' check - Andy couldn't find any records of this CSL until now

Checks for tomorrow:

Tyres
Disc's & Pads
Shut lines
Pannel gaps
Bolster wear
Steering wheel wear
Rear subframe

See if/when it's had:

Clutch
Diff
SMG Pump
Steering rack
Alternator
Vanos
Head-gasket
Springs
RTAB's
Front lower wishbones

Paperwork:

All receipts
Stamps

Obviously i'm not suggesting if any of the above hasn't been replaced before that it would put me off, but it's just something to bare in mind when assessing the value of the car.

Anything else I'm missing?

Any help appreciate guys

Make sure the induction flap is working,if not get them to sort it,or as some of the guys do,take it off altogether.I had to get mine fixed under warranty within a month of getting the car.;)

Honestly, just ask The simpsons boys.
They are hardly going to ruin their reputation by selling a shit car. Besides they know their stuff, and the guys on here that regularly use them are guys I would class as "the lads". They are not daft and use them because they are good and honest.

We would only sell a car out of our garage that we went through with a fine tooth comb, its not worth the hassle otherwise:thumbs:

As Shimmy says, if you are not entirely happy, dont buy it just because it might be the cheapest CSL out there.

Im sure it will be fine though.

I know exactly what your saying, and I realise that they wouldn't put their reputation on the line for the sake of a few thousand pounds and a load of grief, but I would hate to look back on the purchase and regret it because I didn't do the right checks.

To be honest it's not to see if they are pulling the wool over my eye's because I know they are a genuine bunch of guys, it's more so I can assess the value. If it's never had anything major done to it then I'd be less prepared to pay £xxxxx than if it had a few major items replaced already...

As for buying with my heart, i'll have to see. I don't think the car is fully prepped yet and it looks like it's going to be a miserable day tomorrow so it wont be as easy to fall for as going to see one that's freshly detailed on a bright sunny day.

But we shall see

I will give you my honest opinion Monday (unless you have already bought it). Or I might just buy it myself;)

I'll enjoy the test drive no matter what :hahaha:

"shimmy-last person to rag James's CSl before he bought it.
