Mazda MX5 racing

Our little team hired a mk 1 mazda mx5 this weekend and tbh the driver had a real hoot!

Got us all thinking - maybe MSV Trophy and MaX5/Ma5da series racing next year!

Buy 4 cars (£1500 each), £2000 for full conversion for racing in Class A, £1000 engine refresh and upgrade = say £5k for you race car.

Run 4 cars per race, say 2-3 onwer drivers and 1-2 paid seat from our forum mates to help fund the racing

Entry can be as little as £300 for 2 races plus say £60 fuel. Tyres last for ever! and brakes pads are £50 for the whole car!

apart from the gayness of it what do you all think!:smt055

You should work harder, then you will have enough money to race a proper car............................ CSL

Shimster,

Golf Mk2 Championship? We've been at quite a few of the same meetings as the Mazdas with MSVR this year. Golfs are more fun to race in my opinion - the amount of oversteer you can get away with in a front wheel drive car is just obscene. Golfs have a got great following - definately less gay than the hairdresser MX5's :hahaha:. Similar race costs for engines, brakes, tyres, entry fees etc etc. Also - you don't get wet when it rains!

Both are very competitve series being one make championships - just make sure that you have some contingency for when it all goes wrong one day. Don't know where you're based, but we have our final 2 races at Snet this weekend - should be a good show. Drop me a pm if you want to come along and have a chat - I'll be able to sort some spare passes if you need.

Simon

Simon, thanks just not a good weekend to get away also at Snett the week after withmy bruvs caterham academy (im not too far away, hertfordshire)

I think one of the reasons was rear wheel drive requirement (hence why a few other series were binned!

The golfs in the MSV Trophy go very well, seem reliable as no turbos allowed!

Got a mate looking out for a mk1 - prob 1.6 - does he want a Eunos instead of a UK one then?

Any pointers/best sites/tips appreciated (apart from telling him to get a mans car, we've done that one) ;-)

chs!
