Warranty renewal time... gulp!
OK, so I got the letter from BMW, after a year of ownership they have offered to empty my bank account, credit cards and mortgage top up facility for a new warranty.
So I took a deep breath read the letter and thought, not too bad, inidcative Comprehensive quote for a 50k mile car of £835. Problem is mine has now done 63k (18k in the last year), so I checked the website and with a £100 excess £1,926!!!! Gulp! With a £250 excess £1,535... still Gulp! :bigcry: So I looked at trading down - a Named Component warranty is £1,266 and a Driveline £880. :banghead: So, I would welcome your thoughts. Is the Comprehensive worth all the extra cost? Given the usual claims, would a Driveline do the job? I reckon if I am paying £1,200 for a Named I may as well pay £1,500 for a Comprehensive. So I reckon the Comprehensive or the Driveline. What are your thoughts from past experience? |
I have named component over 60k miles cover
It covers the expensive big lumps that can wrong. |
Think ill do the same as Shimmy as mine is over 60k.The driveline cover only covers you for 5k,which i dont think is good enough as Duncan will tell you.;)

I'm feelin for you, have just renewed mine on-line, comprehensive, 32k miles, £250 excess, £612 for the year.
I dont know if i could bring myself to pay £1,500+ to be honest. She's due for an oil change around now, i usually use a dealer in Stockport, but if anyone knows an alternative around south Manchester . . . . . . . |

so interestingly if i swapped my car for a 32k mile CSL i could save £1000 on warranty alone  PER YEAR
|
Thanks for your thoughts. I didn't realise the Driveline had a £5k cap and I agree, that's not enough if things go really Pete Tong, which is why you buy a warranty after all.
So, the bill is at least £1,266... bugger there goes my SS race backbox...:bigcry: |

I didn't know you can do it with a one off payment. Just new here and 'Paying As You Go' 80quid a month - no excess comprehensive cover.
Doesnt seem too bad! |
