Not always the case mate - you aren't transmitting any positional data by downloading internet pages.

I read that this method of finding people is not quite as easy as were told it is.

Cell triangulation would let them know roughly where the phone was though.

If I was on the run, I could stay hidden quite easily and still watch tv;).
Going by his past/roots I would say the people he should aquaint will not be grasses if you get my drift.

The cell towers know what sim and IMEI are connecting to them ;)

Doesn't work if he went and bought a PAYG handset and SIM before going mental though :D
