Yes we can - a company called personalised plate does it locally.

Cheers for the welcome Mark - will PM you my details. We have 10 official imports here in NZ (1 written off many years ago which was owned by BMW NZ) I know of 3 private imports, 2 from South African and one from the UK.

Hi NZ-M3, Your front plate looks very neat, and a great number. Is the substitue plate made from sign writing stick on material and regulation size? it looks a little smaller. I wonder if you will be hasseled at warrant time.
I also removed the original plate surround to fit a pair of laser gun jammers in the lower cowl opening and still need to get a couple of screw holes filled and bumper repainted, which i will do after a few more stone chips. I have on hold with Personalized Plates, the number CSLBMW but figure the standard issued plate is harder to read when occasionally you pass a row of cars too quick, and I may find myself on the six oclock news as the silver haired boy racer squaring off to Mr Plod.

I actually don't have the stick on front plate any more - decided it wasn't worth the risk of a $200 fine from the gents in blue for an illegal plate - instead I've put the regular Europlate back on the front without drilling holes (double sided 3M automotive foam tape works a treat without damaging paint work or leaving any marks and are reasonably hard to pull off when you put enough on the back of the plate) - I'll post up a pic later on. I personally think it's a much better solution than drilling holes into a carbon fibre front bumper that cost more than a kidney or two.

Thanks for the welcome mark csl, all due to NZ_M3. who has been most helpful on many aspects of the car. I wasn't aware of how critical it is when jacking the car and Tom supplied detailed information.

It is a pity we don't have roads such as in Germany, France and Northern Italy. In NZ roads are still quite basic and speed limits are well enforced with no lea way or consideration on what you are driving. Sure the 100KM limit should apply for the many old clunkers on the road, but thoroughbred vehicles should be allowed a 125 Km limit on certain roads.

Maybe we need a portion of looped road 22km long and attract business as does Nurburgring. I wonder what income this track brings to the region. Is anyone aware of these figures?

It would be interesting to see the views of members on the consideration of raising speed limits for vehicles recognized as "the stable". These graded vehicles recognized by their special number plate. Could it be that these plates and upgraded license have to be earned by attending so many track driving school days?
